What Are Nail In Place Post Caps?
Are you looking for a secure post topper for your wood posts? Nail-in-place post caps are a reliable alternative to standard post caps. Nail-in-place post caps are designed and manufactured by LMT, are easy to install, and are perhaps more stable than the common post cap design. These post caps are designed with two intentions: to add a decorative touch to your fence and to protect the wood post from water damage, cracking, and splitting. Nail-in post caps uniquely feature a nail sleeve allowing you to nail the post cap into the wood post. The black polypropylene construction offers weather and UV resistance and long-lasting color.
How to Install a Nail In Place Post Cap
Then carefully place a nail or screw into the pilot hole sleeve. Nail or screw size depends on the post caps' size. If you are using a screw, carefully drill it into place. If you use a nail, gently use a mallet to set it into place. While these post caps are strong and durable, excessive force may cause damage.
Nail In Place Post Cap Sizes
We currently offer two sizes of these black plastic wood post top protectors; the 3 5/8" x 3 5/8" post cap is used on 4" x 4" wood posts, and the 5 5/8" x 5 5/8" post cap is used on 6" x 6" wood posts. The 3 5/8" post caps are 1 1/4" in height, meaning the screw or nail will need to be at least 1 1/2" long. The 5 5/8" post caps are 1.9" in height, meaning the screw or nail will need to be at least 2" long. The nail sleeve is 1/8" in diameter for both post caps.
