Square Fittings For Chain Link Top Rail
The top rail provides another row across the mesh that will support the fabric from the top. There are two main square fittings for chain link top rails: brace bands or rail clamps. Additionally, for C-Posts, there are line tops or loop caps, which are fixed externally to the posts and provide a loop for the top rail to intersect, securing the mesh, rail, and posts to each other.
Square Brace Bands
Square brace bands are used to attach the chain link top rail to the posts. These fit around the posts and sandwich the top rail. Brace bands are made of heavy-duty galvanized steel and will require carriage bolts and nuts. These can also be used with H-posts.
Square Rail Clamps
Square rail clamps are used similarly to brace bands but will hold two top rails on either side of the post. These are placed around the post and sandwich top rails on either side of the post, so long as they are at a 180° horizontal line. Rail clamps are made of heavy-duty galvanized steel and will require carriage bolts and nuts. These can also be used with H-posts.
C-Post Fence Line Tops/Loop Caps
These are used specifically for C-Posts. Line tops, or loop caps, are placed on top of the post like a post cap. The top rail will intersect or run through the loop. These are heavy-duty rust-resistant galvanized steel and fit externally to the post.
